Robert
J. Abernethy
Robert J. Abernethy is a real estate developer and President
of American Standard Development Company and Self Storage
Management Company. Abernethy received a BA in mathematics
and electrical engineering from Johns Hopkins and a
MBA from Harvard Business School. His many accomplishments
include assistant to chief scientist for the Phoenix
missile program at Hughes Aircraft Co., L.A., as well
as serving as the director of the Los Angeles MTA for
three years. He is a member of the advisory board of
the Peabody Conservatory as well as a trustee of the
Johns Hopkins University. He is also a member of the
California State Board of Education and of the California
Arts Council as well as a recent, former member of the
California Transportation Commission. He is on the Council
on Foreign Relations and the Pacific Council on International
Policy. Since 1980, he has been a member of the Board
of Directors of Public Storage Inc.
